What is the KonMari Method & How Can it Help You Declutter?

    JackBy JackMarch 27, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

If you’re looking for a way to get your living space in order, the KonMari Method may be just what you need. This method was developed by Marie Kondo, a Japanese organising consultant and author, who wrote the best-selling book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

In the book, Kondo outlines her own unique approach to decluttering and organisation; which you can also utilise after investing in skip bin hire Thomastown to clear out any old unwanted items first. Let’s take a closer look at how this method works.

    The KonMari Method Explained

The KonMari Method is based on two basic concepts: tidying by category (not location) and only keeping items that “spark joy”. Rather than going room by room and trying to organise each area one at a time, Kondo recommends starting with categories of items such as clothes, books, papers, etc. This allows you to focus on alike items all at once so that you can easily identify which items you actually use and which ones should be discarded or donated.

As Kondo says in her book, “When deciding what to keep and what to discard, we should be choosing on the basis of whether an item sparks joy in us or not”. By focusing on these joyful items – as opposed to simply getting rid of everything – you will create an environment filled with positive energy rather than clutter and chaos.

KonMari also recommends taking time to thank each item after it has been discarded or donated; this helps give closure to each item’s journey and ensures that they depart with gratitude rather than guilt or regret.

Why is the KonMari Method so Popular?

The KonMari Method has become increasingly popular over the last few years due to the fact that it focuses on more than just organising items – it also focuses on building relationships with our belongings and valuing ourselves enough to take care of our environment, which leads to improved mental health and clarity in life overall!

Additionally, Kondo’s approach is simple yet effective – it does not require any special tools or materials but still yields great results. Finally, many people find that using this method saves time because once everything is organised according to its category, there should never be a need for another deep cleanse again.

If you’re looking for an effective way to declutter your home without feeling overwhelmed or discouraged along the way, then the KonMari Method may be just what you need!

The two main elements – tidying by category and keeping only those items which spark joy – can help make decluttering your home easier and more rewarding than ever before. So why not give it a try today? You might be surprised at how much better your living space feels after applying these simple tips!
